Shofarpalooza

It was a wonderful afternoon during which David Zasloff presented Shofarpalooza. In this unique show, the stand-up comedian and jazz vocalist taught the history and practices of the shofar through a combination of comedy and music.

GIVING UP IS HARD TO DO
See the flyer for weekend dates in February & March

HOPE Connection is proud to announce an engaging and interesting fundraiser — a night out to the Santa Monica Playhouse to see Annie Abbott in “Giving Up Is Hard To Do” — with discounted tickets for HOPE members and guests.

Download the flyer for full details — then choose your night to attend!

Annie Abbott has had a wonderful career, starring in movies and TV shows such as Fat Albert, L.A. Law and Californication. Now, she has written and is performing a real-life piece, “Giving Up Is Hard to Do.” Irreverent? Yes, most certainly. Emotional? Even more so — but in a way that is simultaneously funny, heart-felt and poignant.

The play has gained attention for its high-energy performance. In a review in the Burbank Leader, Lynne Hefly writes: “Getting back into the dating scene ‘when you’re 100 years old — or might as well be,’ isn’t for shrinking violets. Neither is breast cancer, losing your beloved husband unexpectedly, watching two brothers deal with mental illness, and hoping the bikini top that you’re expected to wear for a commercial audition will cover your mastectomy prosthesis.

“Veteran stage and screen actor Annie Abbott shares her years of hard knocks and success, love, loss and new love with high-octane spirit and a great deal of humor in her new one-woman show, ‘Giving Up Is Hard to Do,’… And if Abbott’s revelations aren’t exactly earth-shattering, the life they represent is one that has been lived fully and is moving full steam ahead into the future.”

This will be a moving and valuable night out for Hope Connection members and guests.
