What is the HOPE Connection New Beginnings Group?

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

New Beginnings is a group for ongoing support as a place of growth… from grief to growth.

Think back to your time when your spouse died. Imagine seeing your life as if you were sitting in the first row of a movie theatre. It’s too big — you can’t see everything at once. Then after four months, you move from Group 1 to Group 2. Now, imagine moving back five rows in the movie theatre. Your life still looms large on the screen but not quite as large.

More months go by and it’s time to move to group 3. You now find that you are in row 10 of the theater. You can see more of the situation. It’s feeling a bit more manageable.

Throughout the main program, as you moved through the groups, you kept moving back a few rows and finally, you found yourself in row 22.

It started to feel like you had more space to think about your life, and as you looked at the screen, it was much smaller.

When you join the New Beginnings group, you are not starting again in row one, you are starting in row 24.

Just as you went through the main program and had hellos and goodbyes, you will have that now. You are just going into a different movie theatre.

Finishing two years does not mean grief ends — it doesn’t. It doesn’t end at four years, six years or even 10 years. Grief is connected to your Love. It just gets different.

New Beginnings gives you a place to process grief after two years. It also gives you a place to process your identity, relationships and life after two years.

If you have graduated the HOPE Connection Main Program, you are eligible to join New Beginnings.

There is an 8-week commitment, but most people stay much longer. It’s a new, safe “home and community” for you.

It’s a transition into finding a newly defined Life and a newly defined You.

Come on home…
